GlacialLight launches low power T8 LED Tube

02 February 2010, Taipei, Taiwan – GlacialTech Inc.
, is launching the GlacialLight T8 low power Light Emitting Diode (LED) light tubes under the GlacialLight brand - the LED T8 tubes are an improvement on existing models as well as innovative. The unique advantage is that the tubes are extremely low in power consumption with under 10W power consumption for the 2ft tube, and under 20W power consumption for the 4ft Tube. They can support 110V AC or 220V AC via a G13 socket. The LED T8 Tubes are designed to replace the equivalent Cathode Fluorescent tubes (CFT) available in markets today. Using lower wattage compared with the original products, the T8 LED has the same structure and style of traditional CFT tubes but delivers a brighter performance per watt, with less heat radiation and few of the pitfalls faced by traditional CFT tubes.

There are no toxic gasses present in the design and the tubes are much more robust and weatherproof. The LED T8 Tubes can be used for general everyday use, for indoor applications, and incorporates all the latest luminary technology garnered from GlacialTech's unique resources; combining years of experience in designing cooling systems as well as all manner of consumer electronic device power supplies.

Specifications

GlacialTech uses extremely high quality components designed for high brightness and long life span (min. 20,000hrs). The lumens start at over 500lm at a flux of 52-58 lm/W with 130-206 lux at 1 meter on the short 2ft version, whereas the longer 4ft version has over 1000lm also at 54-64lm/W with 212-377 lux at 1 meter. The net weight varies between 0.15kg's to 0.30kg's. These products are designed to fit into standard G13 socket assemblies, and thus replace traditional tubes without any inconvenience to the user.

GlacialLight

GlacialLight, the new sub-brand of GlacialTech will leverage the GlacialLight products to be better and higher in quality than competing products using high quality heatsinks, specialized power units and Light Emitting Diode (LED) luminaries, giving them longer life >20,000hrs with higher lumen throughout the lifecycle.

Experienced electronics manufacturer

To ensure the best performance and long life time of LED luminary products requires efficient and consistent cooling of the LED, with a durable high quality power supply. As experienced manufacturer of PC cooling and power supplies GlacialLight has leveraged the resources required to create quality LED lighting products combining the exemplary cooling capabilities with durable power unit designs to create optimal solutions for the most demanding of lighting products.

Advantages of LED compared to traditional lighting

LED lights offer the following advantages and benefits compared to traditional globes (Filament) and compact fluorescent Lamp (CFL) products, such as directional lighting, which is ideal for torches (Flashlights) and spotlights. There are no starting problems in cold environments because LED's are "Instant on" with no warm up time needed as seen in conventional CFL lighting. In addition, LED lighting solutions do not contain environmentally hazardous metals such as mercury and do not emit potentially harmful Ultraviolet radiation or Infrared radiation like Halogen lamps.
Another benefit is the extremely long life cycle which lowers maintenance costs in the long term. The GlacialLight LED product range offers considerable power savings while extending long product life cycles under normal conditions. The advantages of LED lighting adding to the lowering of the world's carbon footprint cannot be underestimated.
